So far, our events have been wonderful! …But they’re not cheap. As a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, our goal is to make Kinky Salon as accessible and affordable to as many people as possible. At the moment our event costs are still very high. Below is a breakdown of our last party’s expenses to show you what we mean. We’re constantly working to bring costs down, while balancing that against investing in better compensation for our artists and performers, our infrastructure, and the overall party experience.
CHART: Our main costs as percentages of our total income. The 11% Ongoing Costs is being used to cover things like bank fees, storage, insurance, and infrastructure upgrades between our parties. Current ticket prices are set as low as possible to allow us to cover current costs. It’s also worth noting that some costs (AV, plounge, safer sex) have been heavily subsidized by donations from the community at our first events.
One way we could significantly reduce our overall costs would be to find a way to reduce our biggest expense: our venue. It’s fabulous. It’s amazing. And it comes at a high cost.
